Biobor or a biocide for Diesel fuel.

 

+1 for biobor. Used it in 10k+ gallon shipboard storage tanks

 

I've had good experience with biocide. I'd recommend getting either, which ever is more convenient.

 

probably the easiest stuff to find is Power Service Brand.

The BioKleen is what you want.

Bio Kleen Diesel Fuel Biocide Treatment

This dual-phased biocide kills microbes in fuel, including bacteria and fungus. Use this to rid your diesel fuel system of microbial contamination.

After a few doses of that and you know you have it cleaned out the use of a fuel additive on a regular basis helps.

If the BioKleen doesn't work you may have to clean the tank itself.

Can BioKleen and BioBor both be added to fuel? I have a 275 gallon tank that is about 1/2 full of diesel and I added BioKleen when the fuel arrived. But that was several months ago so I wonder if I could/should add the BioBor as well.

 

I use the Powerservice brand products. My 4520 had algae growing in the tank. It was so bad that I had to remove the tank and ash it out. I now use BioKleen and Clear Diesel in my fuel storage tank. Don’t fallout when you see the price of the BioKleen

Best additive is prevention. Keep the water under control. A full tank sucks less moisture laden air in as the day's temperature changes. An additive that absorbs water is the most convenient way to get the inevitable water out.

BUT... once you have algae problems, then you need expensive biocide along with water control.

 

Bio Klean is what I use as a preventative. No issues thus far.
