Makita and Dewalt are pretty even for price and durability. I usually go with whats on sale. Milwaukee is higher quality but much higher in price. I also have a small 4" no name that I use for tight areas and sanding with a flap disc, everything else I use a 5"(currently Dewalt, it was on sale and had a slightly higher amp rating than the 5" Makita it replaced). I don't bother buying 4.5" grinders as I'm pretty hard on grinders and the 4.5" don't last.

I knew a welder that bought the $30 bargain store grinders. He usually bought them 4 at a time. He said 4 of those lasted longer than one $120 high end grinder and he wouldn't get too upset when they grew legs and walked off the job site. Of course that rarely happened as no one steals a $30 grinder...... :laugh:
