Has anyone added the epto to their 4066r? I've asked the local dealer for the cost for them to add it to mine, but I can't get a response from them. I'm trying to find out what it costs. Maybe they don't know how to do it? I don't know, maybe I need to find out how to contact the GM of the dealership.

You get down south and you will likely find that the a/c will not keep it cool enough. I was mowing today at max RPM in 79 degree weather on the second fan position and max cooling and barely kept cool. When it is in the 90's, the third fan position barely keeps me cool. I tried running the RPM's at about 2000 in 90 degree weather and the a/c would not keep me cool and I am not one of those that likes it cold. I keep my house a/c at 78 degrees and have not had it on all week due to the cool weather. I originally thought I wanted the ePTO, but have changed my mind, since my PTO usage is in the summer.

Don't have the 4066R but have the 4052R, I couldn't ask for my air conditioner to perform better than it does,. I have often wished this summer that I had the ePTO. Fuel consumption is quite high at the higher rpm's. Would also be nice for a quieter ride. I will also be looking into having the ePTO installed. I will be following your post to see what you decide to do. Barry

Thanks for the replies. Mine is open station, so of course A/C is not an issue. I would primarily be using the epto to run my whole house generator when needed. Primarily looking at the reduced rpm's of the epto for fuel savings and noise reduction. I ran the generator with my 3320 but this 4066r uses a bit (more than a bit actually) more fuel. I'm thinking it would also be good to have it when utilizing a fertilizer/seed distributor.

I think the ePTO would be ideal for you. However, it will take a long time to pay for itself.

I bought my 4066R OOS August, 2016. The only regret I have is I didn't get the ePTO. I asked my salesman about it and he said it was only available on 5 series and up :banghead: . I have a pto sprayer with a 125 gallons tank. Don't need to have a screaming engine to operate one of those.

Of course the dealer is wrong (seems to happen more times than not, sometimes).

Here are the part #'s for the ePTO (2 speed PTO) depending if Cab or OOS. A software update is required as well and can be added to any 4-series tractor at any time.

2 Speed PTO Kit (Cab Only) Option Code : BLV10386 $759.00
Also order software part number LVU29170 through JDPoint.

2 Speed PTO Kit (OOS Only) Option Code : BLV10385 $759.00
Requires Service Advisor software order number LVU29170. See instruction sheet for more details.

Not sure what exactly comes with the kit, would be nice to find the installation manual to see what is involved.

Here are the instructions. There is internal transmission work, so There is a chance warranty could be compromised if something goes wrong. The software can only be done by a dealer and the pto will not work properly without it. If you are considering installing yourself, make sure you talk to your dealer first to see what his thoughts are.

Thank you so much for providing these instructions.

The mechanical install looks very simple to do, but the dealer has to do the software update, no real way around that. Not sure if doing the install yourself would compromise your warranty (at least in that area) or not.

As a aside, where do you find the install manual? I searched high & low and could not find a thing.

Well, I had the e-PTO installed. This is the first one installed by this dealer. They said it was an easy install, as I suspected, and it works well so far. Sure do like the lower rpm's when the tractor is just sitting there running the PTO generator. Kit comes with new gears, including a new splined shaft.

I expect to get a lot of use out of it. I'm even gonna try using it to run the brush hog, just to see how it does with it.

These gears and bearings were removed and not reused during the ePTO installation. Does anyone know the part numbers and perhaps the value of these parts? I have no further use for them and am considering selling them if it's worth it to try and do so. Thanks.

Here are the part #'s and suggested retail

shaft: SU24568 $211
ring gear: SU24809 $421

Looks like they fit all 4-series tractors, M's & R's, with either hydro & power reverser trans.

Not sure if there is a market for them though.

Don't have the suspension kit, but I'm really getting use out of the ePTO. So far I think it's money well spent.

Well Crap! Now, after the ePTO installation, the PTO shaft seal is badly leaking. Back to the dealer on Monday :banghead:

Seal easily nicked on reassembly.

Thinking about doing this to my 4066 since I mow for hours at a time. My two biggest concerns are reduced ac efficiency since I live in Florida and more regens. Ac concerns have been answered, has anyone seen more regens due to running lower rpms? Seems like most people agree higher rpms keep the emissions system cleaner with less regens.

My experience on this is with a 5 series, not a 4, but I find the E PTO setting to be a mixed blessing. If I understand it correctly diesel engines like to be run at high rpm but after a regen I decided to use E PTO sparingly and have not had a regen since. I don't think extended operation at relatively low RPM is good for the engine so would recommend you still use regular PTO a lot as well as the E PTO.

I've never disengaged the ePTO since having it installed. Use it primarily for brush hogging and running whole house generator. Works great! Reduced fuel consumption and significant noise reduction when running the generator, and still has plenty of power when brush hogging.
