meyerld---so the new hose worked -great news as u said:bigthumb:

i do believe i'dl march in with the price and bill of them new hoses-to ur jd dealer-and say-since i done all most of the trouble shooting for uns-here's what i need reimbursed for -see what they say-worth a shot-eh:unknown:
Great idea and I will give it a shot. With another hour I could disconnected more hoses and connected my jumper hoses to isolate the issue further but then I realized that since the grapple is working fine, and since the tractor hydraulic SCVs are working fine, the problem can only be one of the connector/couplers the dealer installed, so they picked the tractor up today I am sure will figure it out in pretty short order. I am going to keep those jumper hoses around for future use. BTW I cannot say enough about the local NAPA dealer...they have a huge selection of hydraulic parts and can up any hoses needed with any type of connections and hose length.

Kennyd once told me, it never hurts to have a spare hose or two laying around. Like blow a hose used for lifting an implement while out in the middle of NOWHERE. Spare hoses do not need to be to length, just long.

Problem Solved

Gentlemen, the problem with my grapple hydraulics was solved. Pics of it in action below. That is an 18' long pine tree and tractor did not even flinch.

As a recap, this thread started with me indicating I could not get my brand new grapple to grapple. So I started grappling with the issue and got a lot of great ideas on this forum for troubleshooting. Using your suggestions I troubleshot it to something in the dealer's installation. The dealer had connected 3rd hydraulics for the grapple to the rear SCVs by running hoses with quick disconnects from the rear to the mid multi-connector, and then from the mid multi-connector to the loader boom where they installed a smaller quick connector for the grapple. All JD parts so it looks like a factory installation. When I determined it was not a grapple problem I called JD to come pick up the tractor and fix it, since I paid them to install the system.

The problem was when they routed the hoses from the rear SCVs to the middle multi-connector, one of the hoses was too tight and it was pinched underneath the tractor where they ran it along side the metal lines. They replaced the hoses with larger diameter and slightly longer ones and voila...grapple is grappling so I no longer need to grapple with this issue. No charge to me for anything including the pickup and tractor drop off.

Glad you got it fixed and thanks for the update. You are really going to enjoy using a grapple. It's one of the better things I've bought.

Glad its fixed and your dealer stood behind it. Have Fun :good2::good2::good2:

Gentlemen, Thanks again for all the help. What's amazing is that even after thinking this through for awhile, y'all came up with ideas that I would never have thought of. Its like having a troubleshooting team helping me rather than just going it alone.

I got some hoses made up at NAPA (this is who my Deere dealer uses and they can make any combination of fittings work). In the photo below you will see that today I connected the grapple up directly to the SCV connections on the back of the tractor just like one you recommended. Even at low rpm the grapple worked absolutely flawlessly....quick open and close. So now I know for sure that the problem is either at the mid Tractor single lever multi-point connector, or at the loader boom grapple quick disconnect connector. Since my Dealer installed both of these I will let them figure it out....they are thinking that one of these two high priced quick connectors may be faulty...the ports may not be opening enough to allow full flow/pressure. Will keep you posted.
I’m checking out your last picture. Is that covered area for your implements? I like it and need something for mine.
