Implement Oil Types

Do you need to use each type of specified oil in the owner's manual or can you use one oil for all required implements. I have a RC2060 rotary cutter and a JD 655 tiller. Each one specifies a different oil to use in the gear box. GFP only carries the GL-5 for the tiller. The owner's manual for the RC2060 says I should use EP80-90W. What are most people doing and by most I mean everyone on here. Thanks in advance.

You can use just about any 80-90 in there and you'll be fine.

GL-5 is a grade of gear oil. And 75-90w is the weight of the gear oil. They are both gear oils.

I hear you and those were just the numbers the manuals list. I am just curious if I can purchase one type and use in all my implements to keep from having different oils on the shelf.

As Randy said the Deere GL-5 (TY26815) is 80W90 so I would just use the GL-5 in both.

Placed an order for GL-5 and HD Lithium Grease with GFP just now. Thanks again for the advice! :thumbup1gif:
