Hi everyone,

I’m in the market for a Cab 5E w/loader, could be 5055e-5075E the HP truly isn’t a huge deal for me. After doing some light looking around it seems like the 5E is very light in features comparatively vs Kubota, Kioti, and New Holland. This may just be me only seeing sales videos that is distorting my view. But I’m looking at the Kubota M4-071, Kioti NX7320, and New Holland Workmaster 75.

Ive owned a Kubota L2501 in the past. Had zero issues with it. But why I switched to a 3033R was the cab and two dealers are 5 minutes from my house. I own more land now (40 acres) and could use the larger tractor for large projects. I have a 1025R as well for smaller stuff around the property.

It’s hard not to look at these other brands for their comfort creature features and prices point.

Anyone else done this before and what did you end up doing?

I may not be any where near as knowledgeable as some on here but I will offer this.

Plastic has trumped metal. Unfortunately, their metal panels are simply unforgiving to the slightest mistake. They rust, they ding, they dent, and they fade, they hold their color much better than painted Kubota panels.

The hydrostatic pedal configuration. John Deere has side by side pedals for forward and reverse on the right side of the operator station floorboard. The brake pedal is found on the left side of the floorboard. Kubota has something called a treadle pedal which uses a pedal by your toe to go forward and another pedal to push with your heel to go in reverse. This is found on the right side of the operation station floorboard as well. Not only is the rear pedal located such that it utilizes an good chunk of valuable floor space, it is also awkward to try and control pressure with your heel. Additionally, Kubota has decided to locate their brake pedal directly above the “go forward” hydrostatic pedal. If you find yourself in an emergency situation where immediate braking is needed, this could quickly cause a catastrophe by accidentally pressing the wrong pedal or both at the same time.

All but one loader (model D120, watch video here) come standard with a quick attach bucket. A quick attach bucket is needed if you want to utilize your loader for something besides a bucket. Attachments such as pallet forks, bale spear, snow pusher, grapple, and snow blade can all be mounted to the end of the loader arms.

I will offer this Jd has and will continue to have the best resale value when you decide to get something else. The E is more of an economy model on the Deere line, so some of the creature comfort things are left to be added to the R series JD. So when your doing comparisons you.need to take that into consideration as well. You’ll be receiving a lot more input to your question I’m sure from others.

Happy shopping.

There are many discussions on here about Deere pricing and features compared to others. But like Jr John said the resale will be there n the backside with the green tractor. Kioti seems to offer quite a bit of bang for the buck for a nicely finished tractor. The Deere “R” models are top of the line while the “E” models are the basic so keep that in mind while comparison shopping.

Having owned several 5E’s I would say they have all the features you need but are pretty minimal. I have also owned a New Holland Workmaster 70 and the 5E is a million times better. The New Holland was garbage even brand new. I do think the Kubota M4-071 looks like a great tractor and may have a little more features but also probably cost a little more. I have no experience with Kioti but I would stick with JD or get a Kubota.

When I bought my 5075M the difference in the cab, frame and slightly better hydraulics made me skip the E for the M.

The differences between the two might be narrower now.

Ergonomics seem to be lacking and I am not impressed with the non-synchronized gears between ranges. I drove a 5E on the dealers lot and it was okay, but not nearly as refined as my 3 series, but would like to spend a day in one before making final judgement. I have been told you have to come to a stop before shifting between ranges is that correct? Not the gears, just ranges. I was hoping it was like the 30, 40, 50, 55 series with Quad range where you could still be rolling and shift thru the ranges and gears while still moving.

Personally I would like to get into a 75 - 100 HP one day, and was looking at specs on the Farmall 75C and they didn't seem all that bad. Need to find one to climb over and see what I think of one in person.

Sorry for the delay. But here is the new to me 5055E. It has 280 hours on it. It was primarily used to mow previously. Came clean without any wear or scratches and spent the first year of its life in an heated garage. Initial thoughts are the 520M loader is really impressive. The cab is really quiet especially when comparing it to my 3R. I am amazed at with how large of a tractor it is and to still be very maneuverable. Is it as nimble as a 3R or 4R…….no but compared to other large series tractors that I test drove (Kioti RX7320 and Kubota M4-071) it’s really great! I have thrown my woods brush hog RC6 on the back of it and the economy PTO option is perfect solution for the trails I mow.

Anyone else with a 5E cab have upgrades or options I should consider? The mirrors that came on the tractor are garbage. They won’t stay in position. I am think about spending the money on the JD mirrors. It does have a 3rd function on the loader but is controlled by a lever in the cab and not a switch on the joystick like on my 3R. It doesn’t make sense to me because if you’re running a grapple you cannot close the grapple and move the joystick at the same time. The tractor did come with a hydraulic snow plow that would make sense with the lever because it you would just be rotating the plow as necessary.

Ah...blank. It can be added, at what cost I don't know. The 5-series options in JDParts is confusing as all get-out.

Any chance you want to make a 5 series Diverter kit like my 3R kit I bought from you ??
Tractor is over spec for that valve IHMO. Best to stick with an OEM solution if we can figure it out.

No I haven’t owned a 5E, I had a pair of older pre def 5115Ms. Similar in several ways to to some of the 5Es.
The ‘Deere loader 3rd function and LSS would easily be my top pics for first mods to look into.

All 4 of the 5 series machines that I have owned have had the Deere loader 3rd function which I use with multiple loader attachment, I know that is one feature I could not live without.
‘LSS is also a very nice feature it's a very noticeable feature that I had on one of my 5Ms and later added to my 4R and was the first mod I did to both my 5Rs prior to taking delivery of them this year. I truly love the LSS feature.
LSS = Loader Suspension system.
