John Deere 5E vs everybody else

Hi everyone,

I’m in the market for a Cab 5E w/loader, could be 5055e-5075E the HP truly isn’t a huge deal for me. After doing some light looking around it seems like the 5E is very light in features comparatively vs Kubota, Kioti, and New Holland. This may just be me only seeing sales videos that is distorting my view. But I’m looking at the Kubota M4-071, Kioti NX7320, and New Holland Workmaster 75.

Ive owned a Kubota L2501 in the past. Had zero issues with it. But why I switched to a 3033R was the cab and two dealers are 5 minutes from my house. I own more land now (40 acres) and could use the larger tractor for large projects. I have a 1025R as well for smaller stuff around the property.

It’s hard not to look at these other brands for their comfort creature features and prices point.

Anyone else done this before and what did you end up doing?

Can someone tell me what that valve on the hose connections for the front end loader is for? I have the single point connector on mine and the dealer still installed that valve. Zoom in on this pic to see it.

fixed mirrors wouldnt last a day on mine as we have trees......i also bang my head on the drivers side mirror often when climbing in....i hate the placement of the factory mirrors by the entry door but the mirrors work well otherwise

Here is one option, but it gets expensive:

I haven't owned any previous 5 series. I'm getting a new 5075E, but I didn't get the third function for it.
Thanks for the link. I’ve been looking for that kit!
That appears to be a WR Long kit, it should work well.

I’ve got to do something about my mirrors. When the tractor was being delivered I lost one of them on the highway. Anyone have any alternatives that will stay in position and are cheaper than Deere?
For the price, these are sure worth a try:

Any idea what the part number is?

No I haven’t owned a 5E, I had a pair of older pre def 5115Ms. Similar in several ways to to some of the 5Es.
The ‘Deere loader 3rd function and LSS would easily be my top pics for first mods to look into.

All 4 of the 5 series machines that I have owned have had the Deere loader 3rd function which I use with multiple loader attachment, I know that is one feature I could not live without.
‘LSS is also a very nice feature it's a very noticeable feature that I had on one of my 5Ms and later added to my 4R and was the first mod I did to both my 5Rs prior to taking delivery of them this year. I truly love the LSS feature.
LSS = Loader Suspension system.

Any chance you want to make a 5 series Diverter kit like my 3R kit I bought from you ??
Tractor is over spec for that valve IHMO. Best to stick with an OEM solution if we can figure it out.

Ah...blank. It can be added, at what cost I don't know. The 5-series options in JDParts is confusing as all get-out.

Sorry for the delay. But here is the new to me 5055E. It has 280 hours on it. It was primarily used to mow previously. Came clean without any wear or scratches and spent the first year of its life in an heated garage. Initial thoughts are the 520M loader is really impressive. The cab is really quiet especially when comparing it to my 3R. I am amazed at with how large of a tractor it is and to still be very maneuverable. Is it as nimble as a 3R or 4R…….no but compared to other large series tractors that I test drove (Kioti RX7320 and Kubota M4-071) it’s really great! I have thrown my woods brush hog RC6 on the back of it and the economy PTO option is perfect solution for the trails I mow.

Anyone else with a 5E cab have upgrades or options I should consider? The mirrors that came on the tractor are garbage. They won’t stay in position. I am think about spending the money on the JD mirrors. It does have a 3rd function on the loader but is controlled by a lever in the cab and not a switch on the joystick like on my 3R. It doesn’t make sense to me because if you’re running a grapple you cannot close the grapple and move the joystick at the same time. The tractor did come with a hydraulic snow plow that would make sense with the lever because it you would just be rotating the plow as necessary.
