King Kutter quality plummeted

I have a King Kutter tiller and box blade purchased around 2017-2019. They are fantastic and well made. However, looks like they have gone far, far downhill lately. I was at the local farm store yesterday where they have a bunch of KK stuff in stock. The welding is just disastrous. So is the painting. My Titan forks are head and shoulders better on the welds than this and everyone bitches about them. See for yourself some examples from box blades and tillers:

This is just sad. Their stuff was very well made in the past. To top it off, prices have SKYROCKETED! I paid $1500 for a 60" KK Professional tiller in 2017. Today it sells for $2500. The 5' box blade I bought around 2019 for under $500 now costs $1000. I know the prices are more about the economy and steel costs than KK itself and apply across other manufacturers, but the whole situation is just a mess. I'd hate to be trying to buy equipment these days.

Looks like "on the job welder training", pitiful.
As to the prices doubling, noticed at Tractor Supply the Countline box blade I paid $500 for
a few years ago is now over a thousand!

Everything today is just crazy out of control.
The above KK equioment should be scrapped.
A five year old could produce better welds.
I will advise all to never buy KK.
Our poor world...😡

I am just shocked that they would let stuff like that ship. And this wasn't just one piece of equipment. Every item on their lot (8-10) that I saw was like this. Some of the welds are so awful they aren't even going down the middle of a joint - they are off to one side and not hitting one of the pieces.

And I've been one of the strongest advocates for King Kutter in the past. My experience with items I actually own from 5+ years ago is fantastic. I wouldn't even buy this stuff with your money...

This was on many different attachments. Every one on the lot that I looked at had some of these problems.

Wow, that is really sad looking!

... where is their quality control?
The guy they hired to do quality control has the same (lack of) experience that the welder has.

Proudly made in America... to Chinese specifications...
I'll get heat for this but I dare say the Chinese stuff is probably better than that.

Customers should tell the store manager to pack it up and send it back otherwise this is the new 'standard' of quality we get from now on.

If I remember right 60" box blade prices were in the $1200 neighborhood when I bought mine just over 2 years ago.

That is so sad. I have a KK box blade > 10 yrs old. and brush hog about the same age. Both are holding up very well. I had a manual angle rear blade too but sold it when I got one with hydraulic angling, Bison not KK. Box blade lives outside, not even rusting., paint is holding up great , brush mower lives inside. I broke a shear pin on the mower once in 10 yrs. Probably could sell them for more than I paid.

Yup, looking like Cat-C quality there.

KK has always been import stuff I thought.......It was bottom end brush mowers 20 years ago but they lasted.

The old Mowers were red......I swear they was illegal....they looked even werse for quality then.

Maybe I is wrong.....They were half the price of the Woods I bought in 94...It was $795 for a 4' wide.

I would hide the made in USA sticker until the quality improves if I was kk! 😭🤕
And Hopefully it gets better!! 🥺😳😵‍💫
I just realized they are in my state which makes it worse! 🤬

You don't train welders on the job. You hire trained welders. Of course there is a whole new batch of low paid people being let into the USA these days willing to work for a very low wage. All of those welds were made with a wire welder and most of those welds show little or no penetration. Those A-holes even left pieces of wire on the product. Junk to be avoided at any price. They should be ashamed.

It's especially crazy that some of the welds aren't even over the joint between the pieces of metal. They are offset. And many are so cold there has to be zero penetration, as you mention.

Haven't read every post but has anyone with one of the suspect weld implements attempted to contact King Kutter about the issue?
