Hi all. I just picked up a John Deere 755 Tractor with a 70 front loader. Plan to use the tractor for small brick paving jobs that I do on the side. Looking for advice on which backhoe attachment to get. From my research it looks like i will need a JD 7 backhoe. Just curious if there are any other options out there that people have had success with or that can be used on my machine.

Thank you for your time!

Welcome to GTT from Massachusetts!

#7 backhoe is a capable unit but scarce as hen's teeth these days. You might get lucky to find one with the correct attaching parts. You'll also need the power beyond hydraulic kit.

Good luck.
You may find a old #7.......Better chance at the liquer store. The other JD brand.

You won't find the brackets to mount it to a 755.......Thats gonna be a rare find. Not counting the Power Beyond kit you will need to piece together as all that is NLA.

Upgrade to a 1025 or whatever and don't look back.

Anything you find will be 30 yrs old and in sad shape with No repair parts "easily" found.

Not to be a downer...its just the reality.......very few 755's ever had a ho.

855 & 955 did as they were rental units back in that era.

Totally different ...dimention wise. than a 755

Welcome from Oregon

Good luck finding that unicorn......Its not impossible...its just not going to be an easy to plug and play implement.......lots of parts.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada.
I tend to agree with 'the duke', and suggest you look at a 1025. Even if you find a hoe it's going to be something that is going to take a while to find the parts you need and it's going to let you down when needed the most. The 1025 has a proven hoe and is relatively easy to get parts and service for.. Good luck.

that tractorhouse ad - $5k - is a decent price too!

The other option some people consider is a 3pt hitch "generic" backhoe, for a bit less $$ - HOWEVER - nobody here (including myself) would recommend that because of the stress and strain that it will present on the machine, the 3ph etc.
Something is going to break unless you use it super gently (which defeats the purpose).
However, you may be able to fabricate a fixed attachment to it if you're handy and have a welding machine. The cost at that point will probably get to the $5k mark or even more - and so it wouldn't make sense if you can find the real-deal on tractorhouse for $5k, like Peter Pi did.

cheers!

That one pictured is off a 955
The other trashed looking one is off an 855 and has no brackets.

The last one is more typical of what you will find and The tractor will still need the plumbing PB ,to run either of the above. The front brackets are sort of adaptable between the 3 models. The Rear "hooks" are much more complex.
