Thanks. I looked at them but my concern is they recommend only for turf and not deep tread tires. Do they fit fine on the r4’s?

 

Both my sets fit R4's just fine with a few adjustments, but that may be needed for any chain or tire type.

Two members I know have them on R4's are @Superglidesport and @Gizmo2 , and he run's them year-round.

For R4's you're going to want to use 3/8" link if you're going with traditional ladder style chains. Don't cheap out and go four-link style. Invest in two-link chains. They'll give you a better ride and improved traction.

I've got 3/8" two-link ladder style chains on my 2032R below:

A more expensive alternative to traditional ladder style / crossbar chains would be something similar to the Aquiline MPC. They use a hardened 5/16" link with traction bars and are designed so they won't fall into your R4 tire lugs.

He didn't mention what surfaces he has, I wouldn't recommend those or any v-bar chains for asphalt or concrete.

 

I’m pretty sure my chains came from tire chains.com. I run v-bar 2 link chains on the rear, 2 link twistEd on the front. I only put the front chains on when it’s really icy.

I would say my Amazon chains from RopShop look just like yours. But mine fit. I’ve heard good things about tirechains.com so I’m sure they’ll make it right.

What made you want to put chains on the front?

If it’s because of steering when plowing / blowing, try lifting the implement very, very slightly. Any of the front implements (blower, quick-tach plow, loader [plow or bucket]) will lift the front wheels very slightly. If you just raise the implement enough to unload the front end, you can steer. Most people don’t use float for snow removal because of this.

 

I Use float 90% of the time...Otherwise it would tear up my drive. Agreed... To get steering bump up the implement but after I dump the snow , it is back to float. The neighbor did not have float on his old Steiner and his (R.I.P.) drive is a mess.
I do that drive now and the only thing that makes it possible is float.

 

Junckman, I only purchased rear chains for my tractor. But they looked like yours except they were the right size for my 26x12x12 wheels.
I put a link in my original post directly to the chains I would have picked for the front tires, but here is the link to what I bought. 26x12x12 chains. If I were you, check the links I provided, and they have a way to “contact the seller”. They will help you if you reach out. As for the ones you bought, were there any labels on the bag or box indicating what size they were? I’d call that shop back and ask point blank what length the side chains are supposed to be because they don’t fit the tire size you specifically asked for (provided you gave them the correct size). Maybe send them the picture of the wheel that you posted here and show them how far off they are.

Yes they said on the label it was the same size as the tire. I did send a picture and explained it couldn’t be correct but I didn’t get any feedback other than they had to receive it in 15 days from delivery or they would deny them back. Wanted to send them back ASAP and really done dealing with them. I have been ok with no chains this year so may not even need them. From what I hear it isn’t good for them to be on the front anyway so if I do get some I may just get rears like you. Thanks for replying.

 

I bought chains for the rear of my 1025R with the ag tires, I wish I would have waited I don't think I will need them after all.
