I was wondering what is the best thing to use to keep the inside of the snowblower chute slippery to help avoid clogging the chute. I read an ad that Fluid Film was good for that. What are some things that snowblower owners use for that purpose? Thanks.

Thanks CP. Yesterday, in a heavy, wet, slushy snow I got a clog of slush that plugged the chute. I broke it apart and cleared the chute and all was well. I am running it at 3200 rpm's but I think I need to increase the ground speed, especially with a snowfall of that type.

If you have Dollar store or something to that affect buy the cheapest (Pam ) cooking spray and spray the chute before you start to blow snow.
If the snow is wet ,,,KEEP the RPMs up to the max setting... you can use wd40 just about anything of a silcone base or cooking spray. Even waxing the inside of chute .

Like others , wet snow is the worst... Speed ,amount of bite . If you have a blade ,sometimes I will take the blower off and just use the front blade .
Oh carry a long stick about a 1x2 about 2' in length and just push it back down inside the blower. Have used a Kids garden hoe or the little garden shovels to dig out the packed ice. It can be a pain in the A_ _ .

My Kubota would clog if I looked at it sideways (Sold It)

The John Deere on the other hand is hard pressed to clog even in road side slush
Although it has a fresh coat of powdercoat
I always look at Kubotas sideways, :nunu:

I have used Fluid Film, also tried PAM and WD-40. They all help, but the FF seems to last the longest.

Most of the time, if I stop moving forward and rotate the chute left to right a couple times, the clog will clear.
Otherwise, it's shut her down and clear the chute with my wooden "sword".

LINED and SHOVEL

I lined my chute with Supper Slide a truck bed material Got it from Horn plastics talk to Tim Horn he sold me scrap Horn Plastics and Super-Slide Fargo ND Location upper and lower edges are protected with a u shaped piece of stainless steel
found only needed to line lower part of chute lining has given me 2 things
1st much less plugging
2nd when it does much easier to clean

Also made a shovel(old) to clean chute with and a place to carry it

made the blade of aluminum plate to all most fit chute other end of handle used for "poking"

found a modified hockey stick is good for cleaning it really gets around

the other end has a piece of flat steel a 1 inch up turn

have attached plow guide wands to help with knowing where edge of blower was

I had thought of putting a plastic liner of some type in mine , I was thinking of the roll up sleds for kids ,or something like that material.

I had a used a used guessing 10 yr old JD47 and it would clog . After spraying it with a Spam like cooking spray it would help.

This afternoon using the new 47" JD blower , temps about 35° did about half of the drive way . Thought man this new blower is better than the old one not clogging.. Next pass across the drive it started to clog I was within 15-20' of the edge of the highway with the highway salt melting the snow more than the lower half of the drive.
After getting the clog cleared , started down beside the house in deeper older snow for a while thought I would have to get off and clear the clog again. Moved the chute left -right started working .. .
Oh and rpm was same speed had been running 3000 I know not 3200,, speed was slow and maybe a 1 1/2" of snow first two places beside house 8-10" or more in places.

Can't speak for GUS FINK but my mine is new JD47 bought Aug 2014. I can blow snow all day and all night . but when the temps get around 34-36° and out along the main road where the state has salted the highway it clogs up. Go apx 10 " away from the main highway and it will work fine.

The only clogs I ever get are from the snow mixed with heavy salt, it turns into like grease.

Another post recommended SLIP Plate. The manufacturer recommends, "...extreme wear applications, use SLIP Plate® No. 1 and use SLIP Plate® Aerosol to finish. Allow SLIP Plate® No. 1 to dry for 24 hrs before applying SLIP Plate® Aerosol...." I've been using a silicone-based spray; results are so-so.

I ordered a quart of No 1 and a spray can of the aerosol. My chute is in decent condition (a bit of abrasion; expected with a 3 year old blower) and I'll report the results after the next decent snow fall.
