Where can I buy a three point hitch assembly for a 1025R?

Bought a used (70hr) 1025R last fall with a backhoe attached. Being a newbie, I was all excited about digging my drainage ditches and didn’t know about, or think about, attachments and a three point hitch. I recently bought a flail mower and a chipper to get going on the property in the Spring, only to discover that they, and all the other attachments, need a three point hitch. Forgive me, I’m a city boy who just bought a rural property and had no idea. I have read all of the postings here that say “You should have had one included with the 1025R…it is standard”, ‘Call up the dealer and ask for it” and’”go back to where you purchased it”. None of these solutions work for me. Over the winter, I was forced to cancel my old e-mail and, as a consequence, all my contact information for the seller was lost. I have no chance to go back and ask “where is the box, that should have been delivered with the unit when it was new?”. So far, the local JD dealers tell me that JD do not sell three point hitch assemblies for a 1025r. Apparently, only way to get one is to buy each and every individual spare part…..about $1,300! I have tried but cannot find anyone who sells a 1025R three point hitch assembly. I have some people who say an alternate (Kubota) unit might fit”, but I’m not keen on taking that risk. Can anyone here send me in the right direction. Btw, I already know I am an idiot.

You can't remember where you picked up the tractor?

Did your phone save a text or #..?

Can the local dealer give you a Name to go with your tractors serial #?

No name on transferable warenty?

As to finding parts.......CL ,FB ,Ebay

Most arms are all similar.......You can get dimentions here or drop by a dealer.

Whats going to end up different will be the lift links , and sway chains.
Kubotas sway system is reverse of deeres.

I'd hunt hard for the previous owner...place an ad whatever...thats a chunk of cash.

How did you pay the guy? If it was with a check you may be able to track down who cashed it which would at least give you a name.

Over the winter, I was forced to cancel my old e-mail and, as a consequence, all my contact information for the seller was lost.
Ouch. You could try to call your e-mail provider but thanks to GDPR anyone that does business in Europe basically deletes your info ASAP once you're done with them.

Does the tractor have any stickers on it saying who the original dealer was? If so then you could call them to see if they know who the original buyer was. Unfortunately, privacy laws being what they are it's unlikely that they'll give you said person's information. Maybe if the sales person that sold the tractor is still around they'll do you a favor and reach out to the original buyer to help run down the chain of ownership to see who has a 3pt hitch assembly.

Btw, I already know I am an idiot.
When I took delivery of my tractor I had no clue that it didn't come with a top link pin for the 3pt hitch. I had two implements that needed to be moved with no top link pin and it was pouring down rain. I also didn't have time to run to tractor supply (an almost 2 hour round trip for me). Believe me I tried some stupid things to move those implements that did not work.

So you are not an idiot in my book. Or we're idiots together.

@Johnny P welcome to the club.

Just curious why you can't go visit the person you bought it from. That's probably your cheapest bet. I know it's a gamble, first might not be there when you show up, or they threw it away, but if it works out, it's worth the trip. Anything interesting to visit where you bought it, you could turn it into a fun trip for the family, get 2 birds stoned at once.

Get a Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo. I moved a year and a half ago, after selling the house, we had no house to buy in this crazy market, so went to an AirBnB. So had to close my Bell account and lost my email in the process. I saved my stuff, but still lost my email address, so I had to-register or update my email on all my online accounts. I figured, now's the time to never again use the ISP email address, I had said no to Rogers before because I didn't want to switch emails everywhere. Now that my email is not tied to my ISP, I can switch anytime I want and they can all kiss my ......

There are several threads about this issue, people like you buying used only to discover the 3 point hitch is missing. If you were the original owner, and the dealer "forgot" to give the kit to you, you'd have a claim for it. As far as I can determine these boxes with the three point assembly are only shipped along with tractors that have a backhoe installed.

I would be inclined to start ordering the individual parts used as they appear (rarely). But I truly think you are going to need to bite the bullet and order most of the parts new and put a kit together yourself. What you can't find used would be best bought from a local dealer. That way you'd save on shipping charges vs on-line stores. Though GreenPartStore.com does have free economy shipping if you use the code TTWT (Tractor Time with Tim).

Here's a thread about JD providing them separate to back hoe buyers

And skip the JD top link....

just get a standard one from a farm store or whatever you have there.

So a
right arm
left arm
2 rt side lift links...adj.
a pair of sway chains

few generic pins...can be had anywhere

Wow. Just sent out for a couple of hours and am shocked at the number of replies. Thank you to everyone for trying to help. I bought the 1025r from a guy who advertised on line. The listing is long gone. My communications with him were all via e-mail. The tractor was not very old (about 18 months) and in great condition. He sent photographs, we agreed a price and he delivered it to to my house as a part of the deal. I had no way to move it myself. I paid him after looking at it with my son-in-law. He was a good guy. I’m sure he would respond positively if I could contact him. At the time, I just assumed that I would be able to contact him via e-mail, if I needed to. The trouble is, as someone above has also experienced, I was moving to the new property where there was no Rogers internet. Had to turn in my old router and cancel the account. I discovered straight after that I had lost my old internet e-mail account and all of the old e-mails, along with the addresses. Never again. Using g-mail now. I will follow up on the advice given here and let you know how I get on.

Btw, thanks to Jeff_Tractor for the recommended kit, but it is the same (Kubota) one that a previous dealer said “might work”. I believe that it will be very difficult for me to return a kit to somewhere in the US if I can’t get it to work because it is marginally incompatible.

Including shipping, that might be $500 Canadian down the toilet. I’m still amazed that JD have a part number for the OEM kit and supply the kit with many new tractors……but don’t actually sell it.

Got any tractor wrecking yards up your way?

Or old farms with dead tractors sitting around.?

Repair shops..check the other dealers Ford ,Kubota..etc.

Lots of guys bend these...they end up in a pile behind the dealer.

Easily straitend in a press...an arm is a arm if the length is right.
Arms off bigger tractors will likely be a bit longer......

I'd hunt around a bit till you stumble into some.

Theres a whole set on CL here......for some other model of deere...been listed for months.

Another guy that sells imported Jap tractors has a huge pile....were 50$ a pair..he had a lot of them.

Dig around a bit

Check with your local JD dealer. Maybe they have one laying around from someone that got a backhoe but didn't get/want the 3 point. Can't hurt to ask...

Few tips for those reading this thread re: losing access to email. - email can be downloaded to various email applications like Outlook (not free) or free apps like thunderbird, ms mail, I'm sure there's a mail client for the Mac to, but I'm not versed in that and can be either archived locally or kept in an inbox on a personal computer even if the account is no longer valid.

OP: If you know dates/times and any communications was done via cell phone (text or voice calls) old phone statements might be able to get you a phone number. Worst case, you call someone you intentionally cut communications with and reestablish that communication. Best case, you get a hold of the seller and get a starting point.

Good luck!

Another potential source

I don't know this is the particular kit for the 1025r, it says fits subcompacts 15-25 hp. They have several kits and also sell used parts so who knows. I have never dealt with them before, a quick search turned them up.

I just read last week that a guy on here had a 1025 set up and his tractor was a 2 series so if won't go low enough for him so he needs a new one

#21 ·
yep...and the dealers making Him drive to get it...

I was thinking the same........He may end up with an xtra.
Don't sound like it though.

Place a WTB ad....Might find someone that never plans on removing the HO and has the parts.

This is why I like this forum, very solid ideas and advice guys!

OP good luck and keep us posted. I knew some older tractors were set up to remove the arms when mounting the backhoe, didnt realize the newer 1Rs were that way.

This might also be worth a try. Looks like there are 4 1025R currently being parted out:

I just hope that the guy who sold you the machine didn't have a loan with Deere and failed to pay off the loan when he sold it. Very unlikely, but it would be a very hard machine for Deere to locate due to the circumstances until you contact them with the serial number. In any event, the legal problems would largely be the sellers, but you might have an issue if Deere is looking for your machine to be taken as collateral in the defaulted loan. Its very rare, but is does happen to even those who are experienced machine owners..................

You should notify your Deere dealer of the sale and subsequent ownership change, as this transfers the remaining original warranty coverage to you, which is very important. I guarantee you Deere will have the original buyers name in the system. You may need to contact the selling dealer (once you learn where it was sold) to get the original owners contact information. Who knows, the guy could be a good customer of the dealer with another Deere machine or two and he was wondering how to get a hold of you since your email is no more and you were living in the temp residence at the time.

I have a strong feeling you can still get this 3 point hitch assembly from the person you bought the machine from with a little effort. Make sure to transfer the remaining warranty to your name so you have the coverage, but also so you get any notices of recalls, safety issues or if you are drawn as the lucky winner of a new machine giveaway from the dealership for being a new owner of a slightly used machine......................Just checking to make sure you are still with me.......the part is italics is just kidding, but all of the rest is worth noting..............

Missing something like the 3 point is also a red flag as to whether the machine could be stolen. The thief isn't going to have standard equipment like the 3 point if the backhoe was installed.

I had that experience with an L&G tractor that had a snowblower but no mower deck or manuals and a shiny new key. The seller said the mower deck was "destroyed" so only used it to blow snow. I passed and later the seller tried to put it in an auction and the auctioneer discovered it stolen.

I bought a three point hitch kit from neatfarms.com for my 4310. It's an import kit and probably not near as heavy duty as the original from JD, but it works fine for me. I've had a 5 1/2' disc on it to prep a small part of pasture for seeding, I carry my weight box that's over 700 pounds and never had a problem.
