Starting a new question because i am 62 years old and not good with computers, so sorry if this is a repeat, I did look through the threads but all i can find already discussed is from 2012, - 2017. and the market has changed some. My question is simple but will probably get many different views as to which way to go. I welcome all ideas.

First is I only wish to buy AMERICAN products. ( Buy American and Americans work) so Titan is out, Second I desire quality so I have whittled the options down to Everything Attachments (I have many of their items and only find great quality in everything and the support and service is super.

The following are the breakdowns which way would you go???????????

If i sell my EA Pallet Forks and got 500.00 ??? that would still leave a bill of $3200.00 approx from Artillian that is a large nut to swallow and is it worth the cost to do so???
Weight Comparison benefits????

If you don't already have one you'll need a 3rd function SCV or diverter valve as well.

I have the 55” wicked root rake on my 3200 is the best and my favorite attachment

I have a 50" CTA grapple. I have had it 4 years and this summer I used it a lot. I bought the 50" because when I bought it I had a 1025R. I believe it weights 250 lbs. the 55' is around 300lbs.I ran a artillian diverter with it. When I got my 2038R I got the WRLong third function Kit and it installed real easy. I believe the grapple was around 1400. and came in a real nice wood bos that I added casters to it and keep it in that box still.

Thanks for the price break down, pretty much made my decision for me. Based on the size of your tractor I would get the strongest and lightest grapple possible. Am I to believe John Deere still does not offer a third function for their hydraulic systems. I know when I bought 14 years ago just having power beyond was a big deal.

I can't recommend the Frontier/JD AV20F highly enough.

I agree! I am running the same grapple on my 2021 2025R and it is a workhorse. I spent much of last weekend clearing brush and rooting out downed trees and transporting everything to a burn pile. Fantastic addition. My dealer said they don't sell many of them, but after seeing the one I ordered, they plan to order some in. I also had the dealer install the 3rd function SCV, so that is a new practice for that size of machine for them. Apparently I've started a trend locally since people saw it and now want the 3rd SCV on the 2025R now for similar work with the massive storm we had last year.

They have had a 3rd SCV option forever, or so it seems

I recently swapped machinery to my dealer for an AV20H grapple. This is heavier than the F model but is the lightest of the Frontier brand made by Workmaster. I really like it as it has heavy rake tines. Weights about 370 lbs...and I plan on using on my 1025r for lighter work and on my 4400 for heavier work. I have the Summit valve on my 1025r and the factor remote on my 4400.

Frontier makes a really good grapple, and they are matched to JD tractor size.

I'm new here but I have had the 4215 brush crusher for a few weeks now, doesn't need the third function but the neighbor with a skid steer and grapple is amazed how well mine works.

I did adjust it to get the opening as wide as it can get.

Another American made option: Homestead Implements. $2,100 for the JD unit.

I have one on a 4066r and like it.

Wanted to ask if this grappleis greasable on the hinge pins and cylinder ends? Looked at their website and cannot tell. Considering one of these for my cabbed 3520. Is it really that lightweight? Do you like it?

As to third function kit I got valve kit and guidance from Kenny, did hose work myself locally

I have an EA Wicked 55” and couldn’t be more pleased with it. Yes it’s a bit of an investment either way, but it’s definitely worth the money. It’s a nice, high quality product.

I have an earlier version of the Artillian pallet forks. I had originally leaned towards two of the clamp add-on grapples and a center rake. Not sure my older fork set has enough preset indents.

I have also considered Everything Attachments and wicked root grapple. Seems well liked around GTT.

Precision manufacturing has one you might want to consider too called mini-322. It is on my list.

TTWT video.

Good luck. I recommend the double clamp versus a single to better capture uneven logs. For now I'll have to stick to pallet forks and chain the load since Santa 🎅 didn't bring me what I wanted and the Finance Committee has been slow to hear new requests.

Another vote for the Deere/Frontier/Paladin(?) AV20F. Probably the most used attachment on my tractor. Though the mower deck is probably close. It's fairly light so my 1023E can use it's meager capacities to lift a load vs lifting the grapple.

I prefer the longer bottom tines so I can use it for things like stacking branches after limbing when it isn't convenient to just pick them up with the grapple.
768794

But they still work great for clearing brush and overgrown areas. This was all done from the seat.

Whatever you get, you're going to love how a grapple turns a major project into a simple task.

As much as I love the lower weight of the Wicked 55 since lid grapple, the Wicked Root grapple V2 with the double lids is quite nice. The MTL HD root grapple with double lids is also built like a tank with a few extra protective guards for the hydraulics.

I have the just received my EA 55 Wicked Root Rake Grapple last month. Not saying Artillian doesn't make nice stuff but at $1700 cheaper the EA 55 is a purpose built grapple that is lighter and tighter constrution that isn't relying fork frames for a mount. You will maximize your lifting capacity and have a stronger grapple AR450 vs AR400, plus if you look at the lower tines of the EA vs Artiallain you will see the EA unit has laminated lower tines for additional strength where it is needed.

769066

That lower root rake is tuff I was pushing mine into frozen ground picking up a couple trailers load of brush with no issues.

Keep your EA pallet forks, Order a the Wicked Root Rake and you will still save $1,000, even if you consider your $700 investment in the EA Pallet forks. Doesn't make sense to invest in the Artillain system unless you already had part of the kit.

Congrats on your new grapple.

I've been working my pallet fork frame Artillian grapple for 5 years now. It is on it's second tractor and has seen several hundred hours of service.

Very unlikely that I'll ever wear it out and unless I go flat out stupid with it I'll never break it either.

I max out the tractor / loader all the time with it. So far I have never maxed it out.

EA makes some good stuff. Maybe in my next life I'll give one a try. The one I have will out last me in this life.

100% agree with terdog. And I'll add that the weight of the grapple does not usually indicate quality of build. Weight does however play an important role in the grapple/tractor capabilities. Lighter is better and every pound in the grapple is one less pound of crapola you can grab.
