As long as it's in gear. If not you're in for a hell of a ride!
This reminds me. Today after work I'm going out and bypassing the "neutral SAFETY start switch".

Since it will likely take Deere a while to have enough spares for the rank and file consumer to fix his/her tractor. One can presume that dealers doing repairs of units in house will get first crack at the new/improved product.

@JeepinChamp looks like your company is the same as most of ours. The bean counters won out over the engineers on this item.

Truth, if it goes while you're on a slope, especially if you're in neutral to start... Just better hope your bucket and ground-engaging implements are on the tractor and down!

Use your Bucket Brakes or Ballast box brakes.
I figure the guys that could be in a world of hurt are the guys doing belly-deck work, with no loader or three-point implement attached. I figure I could always drop my bucket and whatever I've got on the back to slow me down, ballast or box blade makes a dandy brake, but if just the belly mower is on...

Can someone confirm LVU31387 is the newer upgraded bellcrank?

This probably affects me. I wonder what their fix will be, and why it doesn’t affect tractors built after Sept 2022.

Agree on transport cost being a concern. Probably cost more than the replacement part that I could install myself.

That's what I wonder as well, my 1025R has a 2024 build date, but shows the exact same bellcrank part number LVU31387 via the JD website, did they correct the issue in 2022 but keep the part number the same? Or should I be worried?

I believe that's what happened. When they updated the part gave it a new p/n and have now made that the backward compatible standard.

Being this sounds like a full scale recall they've known about it for a while. It will be interesting to see what the official fix will be.

I ordered the new part yesterday from Green Part Store to take advantage of the TTWT free shipping one final time. I'll change it myself for my own peace of mind.

I looked at the computer generated image and the broken one in Apsey's picture and could not see (at least to me) where the computer generated image of the "new" product is beefier in the area where the old one split.

I probably should order the replacement since I doubt my dealer (or ANY dealer) will just hand it to you to put on for liability reasons. And my dealer does not have mobile service.

LVU31387 part# has been around for awhile....is there a new # to order instead of that one? Otherwise how do you know the store won't just send you an original "bad" part that they already have in stock? If JD used the same part#, curious how stores are going to scrap the bad parts and be certain to only send out the updated good parts.

Here is my "first take". I guess I should have said "Applies to ALL 1038X tractors as well"!!

Thanks for posting this Tim !!! Lots of good info , and yes , I will inspect mine although it is a 2016 . I am curious about what mine is made of . 🚜

I've got a 2023 and it has the exact same looking part, with the part number LVU31387. So I'm not too sure what they changed, even looking at these photos and Tim's great video it looks the same. Identical molding marks, seems, and casting....

Nice video.
The bellcrank is cast from "POT METAL" (ZINC ALLOY). not Aluminum.
Also, the weakest area on the part is where the most stress occurs.
I had local welding shop build a replacement for me using STEEL.
Cost $100 Canadian. Just copy the broken part.
I hope JD pays transporting tractor to repair shop, as it's not as convenient as just driving you recalled car to the dealership.
