3038E with 305 loader Q

The 3038E has a cab (400 lbs) and filled rear tires. My comparison is to an old 650 with a 67 loader. The 67, while it bolts on, is probably a bigger loader than the 650 is designed to handle. At any rate, with a ballast box attached I can bury the bucket of the 650 into the bottom of an iced up snow bank (yes, we still have them here :banghead:) and easily lift the back of the tractor off the ground.

The 3038E, not so. In fact, the loader simply "stalls" and the tractor itself is rock stable. Since I don't have anything other than the 650 to compare it to, I was wondering if this is normal. Once I fill a bucket, no problems lifting it at all.

Similarly, with the bucket level, I cannot lift the front wheels off the ground. I can't tell if the cylinders are fully retracted and this is a limit of the loader geometry or if I've run out of lift. Dumping the bucket creates enough force to lift the front end and hold it. Again, just wondering if this is normal.

i can't help u about ur 3038e-except what i can tell ya about my 2520. when it was new--it would lift one side of the rear tires right off the ground-even with the brushhog on the 3pt.

after installing the tooth bar-if i buried it in a dirt pile-that was tight-i had to back up a hair for it to curl. never tried it in snow with the tooth bar on:dunno:

i don't think i've ever tried lifting the front end in the air with the hoist cylinders?
are they long enough to even do that?
tilt cylinders will lift the front end off the ground easy.

have ya checked ur pressures yet?
maybe they need bumped up a bit?

We use our 3032E to carry gravel for lateral lines. When I dump a pile of #67 coarse stone, and then try to get a full scoop, I can stall the loader lift circuit by pushing into the pile, and lifting. I do not spin my tires. I certainly cannot lift my rear tires off of the ground. I have no issues getting the bucket completely full, but I cannot just drive into the pile and lift the bucket out of the other side of the pile.

I think Deere has the 3032E/3038E/3025E loader circuits detuned in order to save the axle seals from damage due to an unscrupulous operator and no ballast on the rear of the machine.

We run ours with a 60" box blade, imatch, and 400 lb. of tractor weights hung on the box blade, which equals roughly 850lbs. of rear ballast. I would like to try an additional 200 lb. of ballast. Also have a ballast box on order.

I have noticed the loader stall with my 3038. I thought that it should have lifted a bit stronger, when scooping into a pile of gravel. As soon as I got it started lifting, it went fine, but did not have much power at the start of a full-bucket lift in the pile. Otherwise, it seems like a strong loader and does as much as a small tractor should. I have my rear tires filled and it helps, but the rear end is still light. The engine and loader are in the front and it is hard to offset that weight. Your cab should help, though. I like mine.

I am going to say this is normal. My 3025E does the same thing and it's the same loader, just a different model number. I sort of like this feature because my 2210 would just spin or raise the rear end etc. Sometimes the tractor needs to save the operator from themselves....
