I was employed at JD dealership when 2020's were sold new. I'm unaware that the Roosa-master CBC431-3AL were that trouble prone. Yes ULSD fuel has created more leaks but that really isn't the IP's fault that's was built when high amounts of Sulphur in fuel was allowed. Is your IP leaking at other locations other than rpm control & fuel shut-off?

 

I've not absolutely identified the source of the leak, but I'm thinking it may be mainly at the banjo fitting. I thought I would do a little research on getting seals for it, and I found that this pump is disparaged pretty badly on the YT forum. Good to know that that info may not be completely reliable.

I've so far been working on getting the hydraulics back together (missing hydraulic pump, missing steering column, etc.), and I've just found that the lower idler gear (the gear which drives the balance shafts and oil pump) seems pretty loose (I'm still verifying that). Just thought I would take a look at the injection pump to see if there's a seal kit available for it.

I'm a long time member of the YT forum & I don't remember the info you mentioned. But I have a excellent excuse for not remembering because I'm OLD!!

 

I'm older than you are Jim, I think. As I recall the CB pump did have a rather bad reputation. I believe they were replaced by a different variation of same style, but updated pump. If I can find anything on JDParts, I'll post it.

 

That is an excellent excuse! I've gotten a lot of good info from the YT forum as well over the years, but I think I'll just clean this pump up and focus on locating the leaks for now. I'm not ready to try starting it again since the oil pan is off, but hopefully by this weekend.

On my JD 2030 (no idea what pump) I had one leaking banjo fitting. New sealing washers cured it!

The CB pumps had many problems. Not only for leaks, but internal problems.

The major leak prong area was/is at the throttle control sleeve(8).

Most were replace with a JDB pump, injection lines kit and line clamp kit.

Replacement items:
SUB AR69819, AR69810, AR50896, AR50897, AT27620 AND R48127

 

Thanks for the part numbers and info. I'll try to get a better look at it this weekend to find out exactly where it's leaking.

 

I checked my banjo fitting yesterday, but it seems to be leaking internally (maybe the throttle control sleeve). I'll probably try to remove that to check the internal seals, but I'll also start watching for a JDB pump. Besides the part numbers flyweight noted above, does anyone have a list of compatible Stanadyne part numbers?
