I received an email from the local JD dealer today and in it was a sale flyer. I couldn't help notice the listing for the new JD branded inverter generators. Especially that 7300 watt unit which looks very similar to a Honda EU7000is.

I bet those are gonna be pricey!

I bet their gonna be china......Hate to say it but I don't think Honda would sell out to JD.

Reality is....everyone builds a Honda LookA Like......thats what helps sell the garbage brands.

Now JD did have tools and Tool boxs.....Spendy....I forget who supplied that stuff.

They do say “John Deere Branded.”

Since we are taking bets, ill throw in my Bet that they "ARE" indeed rebranded Honda's, JD has a pretty good name, I dont think Honda would be ashamed to take their money, just my .02 worth

The 7300 watt unit maybe, but the other two units pictured have no Honda counterparts. I suspect they are rebranded from other manufacturers.

I'd love a Honda or JD Invertor generator, but I settled for the Harbor Freight "Predator 3500 Invertor" $780.00 during a spring sale, a Honda 3000 invertor is around $2,400.00. The Predator's are rated pretty high and I see a lot of construction crews using them. They offered me a 2 year " no questions asked" warranty for $200ish, but I passed.

I ran it last week at my cabin and it is definitely quieter then my Coleman 6500. Run time is about 8-10 hours on a tank at 25% load. I ran a 8000 BTU window shaker easily, at 650 Watt's.

I guess time will tell.

Ah who cares, I bet even actual Honda is made in China now. JD will stand behind it so what's to worry about?

The flyer says "CO detection" - sigh yet another feature to protect idiots from themselves.... which us normal people not only have to pay for but also figure out how to bypass when the $$ sensor takes a dump.

Back in my younger days, I followed Deere like a Hawk and thought everything was theirs and the best. Didn't know it was made for them. Like Duke said, tools was one and still being offered. Also had: chainsaws, pressure washers, walk behind snowblowers (made by Ariens), think generators. Well you get the idea. I think that Deere's UTV's are made by Can-Am/Bombardier.

In the late 90's and into early 2000's, Arctic Cat had a generator........BUT wasn't made by them. It was a rebadged Suzuki. Sold ok for Cat and basically just tried to get more units out there for Suzuki. You see it in all walks of life for UTV's, zero turns, etc.

As for the topic here, I agree with everyone that it will have a green price and most likely a Honda.

Yamaha. The dealer I worked for had a Yamaha/Kawasaki/Suzuki store next door. The owner wouldn’t shut up about this. He serviced a fleet of snowmobiles and JD gators for a local ski resort. Yamaha and Kawasaki are both using the same designs.

We have had the honda inverter generators (the smaller ones) as well as the harbor freight ones and honestly cannot tell a difference. Less than half the price and you would swear they are made on the same assembly line in China.

Until you try to have a Predator unit repaired. 😕

Honda generator $1,000
John Deere branded Honda Generator $2,500
The only Honda generator that can be had for $1000 is a little 900w inverter unit (EU1000i).

I'm going to go on record as saying these are NOT rebadged Honda generators. Of the three models pictured in the ad, the only one that looks similar to a Honda model is the 7300W unit. But if you look closely, while the chassis shape resembles a EU7000is, when you zoom in you can clearly see that the chassis is different and the front panel is completely different (see below). And of course there is no mention of fuel injection which Honda now has on two of their generators (EU7000is and EU3200i). I thought at first maybe they were rebadged PowerHorse units but those too are different.

Obviously these generators are OEMed from someone else but I don't think it is Honda. I do wonder though if JD dealers will continue to sell Honda generators as they have been doing for quite some time.

The 2200i is 1150 ish

Same price anywhere you go...JD ,Honda ,Coastal Farm........There are no sales on them.
I think I read that was a Honda thing.

Looking around last nite...I found some of the small (1000 ish) Yellow JD's from several years ago on some auction site that had Robyn engines......Some swear by those....I'd never heard of them till researching portable compactors.

Find the predator pic and compare.........They look like a Honda from 50'

Till you take off the side panels........Predator is no fun to work on.

I don't see any Predators that look even remotely like the 7300W JD unit. Those rear tires and front triangular feet are very distinctive. Same with the hinges on the fold-down handle, very distinctive.

I suppose it is possible they are using an OEM who currently does not have a similar model that they are marketing themselves in the U.S.

Its like they want you too give up and buy a new one.

I have an old old 650 honda genny.......Getting to the carb to clean it is a half day project.

Did run great till it ran out of gas.....always started.....The only one of 5 that I could count on.

Need the whole mess of them gone to a new home.......the 2200i is the new go to.

And its by no means perfect.......they will start with the Co2 moniter unplugged but that video did not show if it will put out power with it unplugged......I guess this moniter has an expiration date of just when you need it to work......time will tell and maybe theres a delete kit coming. It has like 6 wires going to it so it must have its own brain of sorts.....
Only a matter of time till they are banned like Cali.

It's par for the course. Gonna need a green genny to charge the EV tractors. JD is thinking ahead. Likely will have a discount on the genny when purchased with a EV tractor. 🤣

In all seriousness, it's a good move by JD. Much like their hand tools, they are a "I've got a JD account, it's just easier to purchase with that" like people will by from granger or MSC or similar even though a similar product is available at a "non net30 terms" place.

If price is similar to Honda with a similar reliability and they're supported by the dealers, they'll sell. We all talk about the dealers/service and parts availability being an important part of large purchases, this isn't much different.

It's not a move at all. JD has been selling branded generators for many years. This ad was just for some new inverter models, which I don't think they've offered in the past. The only one suitable for charging an EV tractor would be the 7300W model.

So... it's well past June 2023, has anyone actually seen any of these new Deere inverter generators? The Deere home workshop website still shows the old stuff.

Nope…

But.. they're not. Jon Deere's long time running buddy Kohler teamed up to build these. They've built Gen sets together for years and wouldn't think of bringing in another partner. Honda has there own red thing going in this market and they don't need it to be GREEN!. Honda don't need another competitor especially themselves. There are no reviews and only bare bone specifications listed. I talked to a guy at the JD dealer today. Turns out JD has been building Generators since 1808.
