He's probably a troll. Every forum has them.... Probably doesn't even have a tractor.
That's my thought as well. Don't feed the troll.:bash:

no not a troll, just a person that hates to see things become less and less . i fly r/c turbine jets and the stuff being sold now really scares me. when i see where JD is going it bugs me. i'm on the fence about pulling the trigger on a 1025. after reading all the stuff about the 2305 blowing trannies, it put the fear in me lol. mine was built after the problem was fixed, but i'm not comfortable with hooking anything to it. The 1025 is a nice unit i just have to get past the plastic shock :thumbup1gif::thumbup1gif:
oh... i do own a tractor lol

Sometimes something new can be very intimidating or give the wrong impression. I too agree, I don't like how much of the products we buy aren't made to last. But at least JD will be around to keep me supplied with the parts I need to keep mine going for as long as I could probably want. :good2:

With that being said I'm withdrawing my troll comment. :flag_of_truce:

If you happen to get some time I'm sure lots of us would LOVE to see the turbine Jets you fly. I'm a huge RC nut, but my ham fists and wife keep me from buying anything nearly as cool as a turbine. I've recently been flying lots of Ultra Micro Warbirds. Something about an F4U, P-51, and a P-40 swooping around my backyard I can't get enough of. :good2:

Warbird, welcome to the family! We have several members that fly RC, and some with other aviation backgrounds, as well. I know many would enjoy seeing your hobby!

And if you are just an aviation buff, go look under "Other Tractors" for the thread "Tractors in the Sky". Arlen started that thread last year, and a lot of us really enjoyed it!

Again, welcome!

Warbird, I didn't mean to scare you on the rear pto. I had a rear mount finish mower and a 48" bush hog on mine. That said, I did limit my cutting to known fields/tall grass based on the advice that I got.

I eventually upgraded to a CUT based on my needs / wants to be able to do a bit more.

There are several advantages to going to the 1 series... Tranny cooler, better built tranny, position control, etc. But within reasonable use, there is nothing "wrong" with you machine.

As far as renting attachments...I don't know of many places that rent them, and less that rent the smaller ones. Like the rest of us, you'll just have to accumulate them. :drinks:

I am with you on the plastic. I am a diehard 1911 owner....and when the glock came out we called them Tupperware guns..... Guess what is in my carry holster?

If you do go to a 1 series, I am sure you'll get over the plasticafobia!

Interesting. I had a Glock and traded it in on a 1911. I guess I am older school. ;)

I want to welcome warbird_1 to GTT, again for the third time.
Just maybe MY brain cells are not in working order. Although in my own defense Babycakes does tell me I am brain dead, at least a few times a week.

LOL plasticafobia ... good one. As far as the PTO goes. you put the fear in me when you said that even though the problem as fixed , there were still some that blew. i guess i have to ask why . shaft to long, hit something and broke because of impact shock ... i don't expect anything to be indestructible , but you would think that when something is engineered ,that would be factored in. The only reason i entertained the thought of a new tractor was because i ended up with some bad back issues and the 2305 seat is killing me. i looked at all the different mods etc. and i didn't want to hassle . i was going to get one of those big boy seats but i didn't for two reasons. one i thought it would raise the heat to high " i'm altitude challenged" and the second was it didn't have provisions for a seat switch. one last thing... when you said "better built tranny" do you know something? This thread has pictures and there are a few others on the site but I left the site a long time ago so not sure where they are.
John Deere 2305 Compact Tractor Transmission and rear PTO failure

A new thread was created in the off-topic forum R/C aircraft and a few posts from this thread was moved to it. :thumbup1gif:

When I said "better built tranny" referring to the one series, I understand that they re-designed the PTO design and added some more beef. That I know of there hasn't been any failures that were not operator induced.

When I first heard of this problem with the 2305 I had just bought and was fixing up a used 48" cutter. I had the same reaction you did, 1) what the ????, 2) I'm not gonna hook up this cutter and screw up a good tractor.

I talked with a JD parts man that I have known for a while and trust. He did some research and called me back. Number one cause was too long of a PTO shaft. However a hard shock load could still cause a failure, but they were very seldom. His recommendation was to think of the cutter as a heavy duty mower. Mow known areas and just grass and you'll be fine. I would imagine that using a tiller would be the same.

I have used a rear mount finish mower on mine without any issues. I also used the cutter the same. I just stayed in the grass, took my time and paid attention. I also made sure I had a good slip clutch and that it was adjusted proper.

I wouldn't throw out the baby with the bath water. If you have good soil, take your time and you'll be fine. If there are big roots and rocks, consider another method of breaking the ground and removing the obstacles.

That said, if you are also looking for seat upgrades, etc....

Just don't be afraid to use your tractor, it is a good one. Like you said, use it properly and don't abuse it.

It's like being a kid again waiting for Xmas

I have owned many tractors and equipment, but for some reason this ones different, like many I thought I wanted a bx24 or bx25 the after much reading turned a shade of green it just seems to be landed out better and built better, the 1025r tlb should be here June 5th, a friend owns the dealership I had ask him about a used bx24 for sale Craig's list after he looked at it he said it was a good deal. He never tried to push green, when the deal fell though on the used bx, my wife called the dealer and turned me on to the 1025r tlb that was in the same class as what I was looking at. Sure glade that deal fell through.

All things happen for a reason.

I would agree that the 1 series is better overall peice of equipment.

Kudo's to your friend for letting this work out as well. Pretty sure he will help you take care of it as well.

Contradulations and enjoy.

Told my dealer that I wanted a 1025R with MMM and FEL on Monday, 5/19, and was able to pick it up Saturday am...the 24th. I'm really pleased with it so far.
This forum seems to be quite a good source of valuable information.

Is that bx now hidden in your friends backyard? Be up forsale again after the papers are signed.
